We are IN BIG Trouble!

I have read some of the news about the bailout or rescue or whatever you want to call it.

And I also saw the presidential debate.

And all I can say is we are in trouble.  I am not a pessimist but the end may be near.

As I said, we are in trouble.  But there are at least 3 things that we should be doing and I cover them in this video…

Power of Nature

I am sitting here watching the waves crashing against the beach from Hurricane Gustav. And we are just on the fringes of the storm at our condo in Perdido Key, Florida. The big stuff is hitting southern Louisiana about now.

I pray protection and safety for anyone that may be in the path or may have property in the way of the storm.

While watching the wind, the rain and the waves, one word comes to mind - power.

Power is a cool word but something that can mean many things. The power of a hurricane can obviously cause much chaos and destruction. But power can be harnessed and used to achieve and accomplish big things.

I work with a ton of real estate investors and business owners and most need more POWER.

Many people seem weak and uninspired because they have not seized any power.

There are different areas of power…

Power of a decision..

Power of focus..

Power of action..

Power of association..

And the power of momentum..

I will be posting videos and blogs for each topic above over the next few weeks. So be watching this site for more..

But now I need to pack up and head back to Georgia after 3 weeks in Florida.

Stay safe, stay dry and go get some power.

It Was the Best of Times, It Was the Worst of Times…

…it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way–in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

I am not a literary scholar. And I do not even think I have read Charles Dicken's Tale of Two Cities, which the first paragraph of the book is quoted above. And he was talking about 1775!

But I do think that many people can look at what is happening in the current economy, political environment and real estate investor world and relate to the opening of this classic book.

Let's not beat around the bush (Democrats will love that reference), the economy is facing a few challenges. Gas prices are high, other prices are increasing, real estate is still adjusting in many markets, banks are still shaky because of their aggressive lending practices over the past few years, the stock market is down and if interest rates start increasing we could really hear people screaming. Does anyone remember the Jimmy Carter years (Republicans will love that reference)?

Here is the funny thing. I am more excited about business, real estate and opportunities than I ever have been. I truly believe that we have more possibilities to create massive wealth today than I have ever seen.

I am always getting individual real estate deals on my desk and many of the deals look great. It is important to make smart deals - analyze, evaluate and be safe. But at the same time it is important to be aggressive because that is how doors get opened that lead to profit and money in the bank. You cannot sit around and moan and groan. You have to be planting seeds in the marketplace to reap a harvest in the marketplace.

When you plant a bunch of those seeds you will start seeing many larger crops to harvest. A few months ago, I had no idea that millions and even billions of dollars moved around in the world in areas such as bulk reo's - both single family homes and commercial, mortgage backed securities, performing notes, non performing notes and many other high level transactions. And today I have multiple deals in all of those areas on my desk. And there are so many zero's in those deals it can blow your mind. Plus blow up your checkbook.

For the real estate investor that is just getting started, you may not be able to grasp that bigger picture. It has taken me years to "think bigger" myself. But you cannot even begin to think big if you are sitting around thinking that the sky is falling and that this is "the worst of times."

Just get started doing something. Step out on faith and make some offers on some deals. Talk to some private individuals about funding some of your real estate transactions. Do some marketing for your business. Evaluate some deals and buy some properties.

Before you know it, you will be working on your very own bulk reo transaction where you purchase $10 million dollars in properties at deep discounts using none of your money in your target market. And become an instant millionaire.

Then you can really say, "it was the best of times…"

Fireworks and Freedom

We are on the tail end of the Independence Day weekend and our family has had a great time. A little work, a little relaxation and a bunch of fireworks.

We have 2 big fireworks displays/shows in our development. One was on the night of the 4th and the other was the night of the 5th at the Ritz Carleton Lodge.

They were both awesome. As my son Joshua said after the first show, "God Bless the Chinese."

I think my favorite was at the Ritz where they also had a live orchestra performing before and during the fireworks.

I do have a gift for you. I used our little video camera and recorded the entire show on the 4th. It is long and unedited - over 20 minutes long. But just in case you missed fireworks this year or if you have children that want to see a replay, press play below and join the Winders family on the blanket for our fireworks show.
